Busy, fun weekend, sickness and heart doc check-up

This past weekend was great, busy but fun. Friday night we stayed in, had carry-out with my parents who were over to help with the bed putting together/ rearranging. H was soooo excited about his new bed, he just couldn't wait till it was up and ready! The other kiddos LOVE playing under the bed- the bed is a loft style bed, with a curtain to make a cool play area underneath. We then moved the toddler bed H had been sleeping in, into L's room with the intention of transitioning her over to it in the next month or so. Well L LOVED her "big girl" bed, and insisted on sleeping in it that night. L is now officially sleeping in a toddler bed and doing awesome! Mommy is a little sad, and wasn't quite ready for her to be in a toddler bed, but I'm relieved she transitioned so well. We kept the crib set up for Miss E.K. Our little 3 bedroom home is getting smaller and smaller by the day!! The kiddos bedrooms are full- lol! We hope in the next year or so to be able to put the house on the market and look for a bigger house but we will just have to see how finances, housing market etc play out; for now we are making do:)
Saturday morning was a calm, relaxing morning at home, which doesn't happen very often so I took advantage of it. Saturday afternoon I went with M to work the cookie booth for gi.rl S!co.uts. She did awesome and we had fun selling the cookies:) After we left the booth after our shift, we headed home to get M all dolled up for her very first dance, the daddy/daughter dance. M and hubby were both so excited about this night! M got a new dress, "high heels", I did her hair and nails; and then they went out to dinner prior to the dance, M's favorite- p.F. C.hAn.gS. They had a fun time at the dance and didn't get home till 9:30! H and L got to hang out with mommy, we went out to dinner to H's favorite restaurant- it's a local place. After dinner on our way home H lost his second tooth!!! It's been lose and he's been working on it, but was so excited to finally lose it, he couldn't wait for M and Daddy to get home to tell them.
Sunday L and I headed to church (Hubby wanted his sleep, and I thought M needed her sleep because she has testing all this week at school, and H hardly ever goes because of his behavior). It was good to be back at church, I had missed the Sunday before because I couldn't drive yet and didn't have anyone to take me. After church I went home and picked up the other kiddos (hubby was headed to the gym) to go to the store, the $ the tooth fairy left was burning a hole in H's pocket- lol!!! We also had to get juice boxes for the GS meeting. Sunday afternoon, M had a GS meeting with her troop, we provided the snack and I lead the craft- we made tissue paper flowers to be delivered to a local hospital. It was fun getting to spend some time one on one with Madelyn and her friends:)
Monday was a nasty, rainy, windy day and of course I had grocery shopping that had to be done- grr! The exciting "news" of Monday was M lost her 3rd tooth!!!! She lost it at school, which is what she was hoping for because the give you a tooth necklace to keep the tooth in, she came out of school just grinning:) Yes we are keeping the tooth fairy busy!
Tuesday started out like any other day till I went to wake H for school, he said he was sick, his stomach hurt and he didn't want to go to school. I knew he must be sick if he didn't want to go to school, sure enough he was running a low grade fever. Of course I had an appointment with the cardiologist for my check-up.  Thankfully H was able to hang out with Hubby at his job while I went to the cardiologist- if I would've called and canceled it would've cost us $50! H loved going with daddy, and I was relieved to get to my appointment. My heart doc appointment went well, other than having to wear a 24 hour holter monitor- I really don't enjoy these! The doctor wants to see me back in 6-8 weeks for a repeat EKG and echo to make sure everything is still going okay etc.. The doctor did give me a prescription for a water pill because my legs have already started to swell- joy joy cankles:) I noticed that Sunday night, after being on my feet quite a bit. Overall it was a good check-up:)
H is still not himself, and hasn't eaten anything except 1 cracker and sipped on s.p.rit.e. Hoping he starts to feel better and no one else comes down with the bug!! For now I'm hoping for a nice quiet rest of the week:)

Call from my doc and fetal echo

This week has been busy with doctors appointments!!! I ended up calling my OB's office and talking to his nurse on Wed. she too wasn't sure what was ment as a bulky and lakey placenta- which made me more nervous, however she was going to have my regular high risk OB call me. The doctor called me back yesterday morning on my way to the fetal echo. The doctor said, this sometimes happens and can restrict the baby's growth in which case they would do more ultrasounds to monitor the baby's growth however that is clearly not the case with our baby (I think his nice way of saying we have a large baby- lol!). He said it is nothing to be concerned about:)
As I mentioned I was on my way to the fetal echo, I had that done yesterday (Thursday). I have to have that done for a couple of reasons, one being I have a congenital heart defect so there is a slight (3%) risk that our baby will have a heart issue; and second, since I'm diabetic. L was with me and did awesome, looking at her books, coloring, and eating her goldfish. The fetal echo went okay, for the most part the baby's heart looks good, it does appear she has a small VSD (ventricular septal defect), a hole in her heart. I too have a small hole in my heart that has been there since birth. Now there is a chance her hole will close up between now and birth. When she is born she will need to have an echo to see if it is still there etc... So another "wait and see". Yes I wanted them to say her heart is perfect, but this is so minor, I'm not worrying.
Next week I go to my cardiologist, for a check-up, an echo on myself and an EKG- praying all is well!
This weekend we are putting H's new (finally!!) big boy bed together. Yes he is 5.5 yrs old and we are finally getting him out of his toddler bed- lol!! L is inheriting the toddler bed, so we are going to start working on that transition, because EK will get L's baby crib. So we will be busy putting beds together and rearranging everything. When I say we, I mean hubby with my supervision:) LOL! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

20 week check-up and ultrasound at 21 weeks

Okay I'm not sure how to feel, I guess the best way to describe how I feel is uneasy. Today hubby and I went to my 20 week check-up with the OB along with an ultrasound. First thing up was the ultrasound, it seemed to go well- the tech pointed out various parts, arms, legs- crossed at the ankle like a little lady, heart, head, mouth- yawning etc... I always get nervous when she would stop and seem to linger over certain areas. Of course the tech isn't going to say if there is something wrong. Next we waited to see the doctor. Don't get me wrong it was fabulous seeing our little girl, moving, yawning, her heart beating etc- I LOVE IT!!
Now before I go on with the post I want to say I saw a different OB in the practice than I normally do, my OB is on vacation/ just got back and was super booked up. I have seen this particular OB with my last pregnancy, so I didn't think anything of it. So I'm in the room waiting for the doctor to come in, when he pokes his head in the room and asks if I had surgery because he didn't see the mass on the ultrasound?! Um yes I had surgery and hello did you not notice that I didn't have a right ovary either?! So when he comes back in we of course discuss my recent surgery, he looked at my scars and then we discussed how things were going. He said everything looks good, with baby girl, however the middle part of her kidney appears enlarged. He said that this is common, something we need to watch and more than likely will go away on its own. He scheduled me for another ultrasound in 8 weeks to follow-up. He was reading from the ultrasound report and it said my placenta is bulky and lakey, but he didn't know what that meant- reassuring I know!!! So that has me concerned. I'm especially concerned because the last time I saw another OB in the practice, was the first time they discovered the mass on my ovary however she called it a cyst and was just something they needed to monitor. So when I left the appointment I wasn't sure what to think! I of course did the worst thing a person especially pregnant person can do and that's googled these issues, stupid I know!!!!
I've decided instead of worrying over this for the next 4 wks until my next appointment with my regular OB that I'm going to do three things: 1. Call my OB's office tomorrow and get clarification, see if its something we need to be concerned about etc from my OB. 2. Pray and 3. Leave it in God's hands and try to enjoy the last 18 wks of my pregnancy with Little Miss moving and kicking.

I've been released :)

Yesterday I had my follow-up appointment with the oncologist. I didn't even meet with the oncologist but with his physician assistant- which was fine by me:) We got the final pathology report, and it was the best possible news- mature benign, which from our understanding no cancer or precancerous cells!!! YAY!!!!! God is AWESOME!!!!
Starting Monday I can drive, and lift 15-20 lbs. L weights about 25 lbs however they said as long as I lifted her correctly and listened to my body it was ok to start picking her up Monday- YAY!!!! So looks like things will get back to normal:) I'm having some pain on my right side that got worse Wed.  But they don't think it's anything to worry about probably a combination of over doing it, and my belly/ uterus getting bigger and the muscles trying to heal from the surgery etc... I have an ultrasound with my OB on Tuesday so they didn't schedule me for one. Actually the oncologist has released me me, I don't have to go back to them. :) So happy about that !!! Looking forward to a great weekend with my family! Hope you all have one too!!!

20 weeks and an update :)

Can't believe I'm 20 weeks today- yay!!!! I was suppose to have my 20 week ultrasound and check-up with my OB this Thursday however the oncologist office scheduled my follow-up for the same day at time. So I rescheduled my OB appointment and couldn't get anything until next Tuesday:( I'm kinda bummed about that because I'm anxious to see our little girl. I have been feeling her a lot more lately, hubby and the kiddos have been able to feel some of her kicks and even see them!! I love feeling her move around:)
We've decided on a name, and most everyone is happy. H is not happy and refuses to small his baby sister by her name, this is nothing new, he did this when I was pregnant with L. Now we need to start looking at getting L's room ready for another crib etc.. Getting H a big boy bed finally and we also need a double stroller- we had one for M and H but sold it thinking we wouldn't need it. The bed is the top priority, because we want to switch L to the toddler bed because this morning while I was in her bedroom waiting for hubby to come get her out of her crib (I can't lift more than 10 lbs) L showed me how she can climb out of her bed herself! YIKES!!! We just haven't found anything we like for H, we really want to find him a loft bed so he had "more room for activities" LOL!! No seriously so he has some room to play and for storage. However what's in our price range/ budget is cheap looking. Regardless we need to figure done thing out soon!
As far as my recovery goes, slow and steady:) Really I'm doing quite well. I got out of the house for the first tims since getting home, I went to church and out to dinner with the family yesterday. I'm doing more and more each day. Hubby went back to work today- he was so ready to go back- lol!! And he really didn't have it that bad or do my regular schedule!! My mom is my chauffeur this week since I can't drive till next week.  So that's what has been going on. THANK YOU again for all your kind thoughts and prayers!!!!!

Surgery Update

Sorry I haven't been able to update everyone, until now. I had surgery yesterday afternoon, it was scheduled for 1:00pm however it didn't start on time! Surgery went well, baby girl is doing well and so am I. They were able to do it laproscopically, however had to stay in the hospital overnight for observation for myself and the baby. We just got home not too long ago. The best news is the preliminary results are benign!!!!! Our prayers have been answered, God is Great!!! We will get the final results next week when I go for my follow-up with the oncologist.
Right now I'm trying to rest, I'm in quite a bit of pain. They were able to do it laproscopically however the main incision is larger due to the size of the mass etc.. I can't drive for two weeks and can't lift anything over 10 lbs until I go back to the doctor next week. So both of those pose some issues that we will have to work out.
I just want to thank you all for your kind words of support and prayers they are much appreciated!!!!

Hanging in there

I want to thank all of you who have left encouraging kind thoughts, and who are keeping us in your prayers, it really means a lot to me!! I'm hanging in there, trying to stay busy. The weekend was really hard, cried most of the weekend, however with the routine if the week, and trying to prepare as much as I can for my mom and hubby to make it easier on them; I've done better. We haven't told the kiddos yet, we are planning on doing that this weekend. We are going to tell them as little as possible, but also tell them the truth. I think hubby is going to tell them because I'm afraid I will start crying etc and that would scare them, something we don't want to do. I'm meeting with our priest on Saturday morning to get anointed, etc...
Sunday I have to start the prep for my surgery:( Starting at noon I'm only allowed clear liquids, then at 4:00 that afternoon I have to drink magnesium citrate- yuck!!!! Then starting at midnight nothing to eat or drink. Now I don't know who did the scheduling, but is like to talk to them!!! Who makes a diabetic pregnant woman go from midnight until after surgery to eat, and then schedules the surgery for 1:00 in the afternoon???? I'm going to be starving, and ready to gnaw someone's arm off! UGH!!! The surgery will take about 2 hours, and if they are able to do it laproscopically then I will be home that night. We should find out the results that day.
Right now even though I'm preparing for the surgery I'm trying to enjoy the here and now and soak up as much time as I can with my kiddos! Oh and the little one has been more active, I've been able to feel her more- my little guardian angel:)
