Busy Busy!

We have been busy but not a lot going on, just busy with life. I have participated in a local consignment sale for several seasons. Well the consignment sale was a little earlier this year and I debated and debated whether I had the energy to do it this year (it can be a lot of work, getting the clothes, toys etc... out, hung on hangers with safety pins, tagged with description, price and bar code then pin that and tape over the pin; then sort all the clothes by sex and size etc....). However at the last minute my hubby talked me into doing the sale, because we are able to get rid of stuff- make room for more:) and we make really good money- more than I would get at a yard sale or if I took the stuff to a consignment store. So needless to say most of my free time was going to getting ready for the sale, thankfully my mom helped me too!
Once I had all the consignment sale stuff done, and dropped off at the sale it was time to focus on moving the kiddos to the same room. So last week I cleaned my daughters room and closet to make way for her brother. Then I started moving my son's stuff over to my daughter's room. My son was THRILLED and was trying to help (I did this while my daughter was at school). When my daughter came home from school and I told her to get her leotard out for gymnastics that afternoon this is what happened:
my daughter: "Momma, do you see what I see?"
me: "Um not sure, what do you see?"
daughter: " BOYS stuff in MY room!"
So it was an adjustment to say the least. However that same evening my daughter came up with the thought that, her brother should sleep in her room to "practice" LOL! My daughter's bed has a trundle bed which many a weekend night my son would sleep on, just for the fun of it; however the rule had been only when my daughter didn't have school the next day could he sleep in there etc... (we didn't move my son's bed into the room until this weekend). So my son and daughter have technically been sharing a room since last Wed. and all is going well. I still have to get my hubby to hang a few things of my son's in the room but other than that the switch has been made. Now we start focusing on the nursery. Oh and I also registered for my "classes", hubby and I are doing a marathon Saturday where they pack all the classes into one day (one long day 8:30am till 5pm). We will be taking this marathon class in a couple of weeks, exciting!!!!
This week is a busy week ahead for me. My Monday (today) got messed up due to the crazy storms we had last night. They actually had a 2hour school delay today due to the debris, tornado warnings, high water etc... which meant that my daughter didn't have school today (her school doesn't do delays, so if there is a delay for the county schools her school isn't in session). Of course I didn't even think to check the news station or my phone before getting up, showering, getting dressed etc.. and starting to fix breakfast then I checked my fb account and saw that she didn't have school- UGH!!! I totally could have used the extra sleep! I had been sleeping so much better however I awoke last night around 4am to storms and thought I heard a tornado siren but could not tell because my hubby was snoring like a freight train. So then I tossed and turned the rest of the night:(  Apparently the storms or something in the atmosphere turned my kids into little devils because they were not in good moods! It was a rough morning dealing with the rain/ storms; the grumpy kids and trying to get my grocery shopping done-UGH!  The good part about Mondays- the show the bachelor, yes I am hooked!!!!! (every season I say I am not going to watch but then I end up watching LOL!)
Tomorrow I have my fetal echo, I am just a wee bit nervous just because it is another test etc.. however I think everything will go well. My mom is going with me:) so she can get a glimpse of the baby. I am relieved that someone (other than my son-LOL) is going with me. Then Wed. it is more lab work, Thurs my next obgyn appointment and Fri I plan to get my eyes tested (I have to get them tested every trimester). So I will be updating the blog more this week as I have doctors appointments.
Hope everyone who had to deal with the storms last night is doing well, and everyone has a great week!

Name Game

Well we seem to be struggling to come up with a name we all agree on for this little one! My daughter for some time has wanted a baby brother/ sister,( preferably sister) and wanted to name them Olivia and Harrison which I like, but Olivia is a very common name. So here is where the problem begins. I wanted to name her Lavinia Ann (after my two grandmothers) but call her Livi; my hubby isn't sold on the name but he really really likes Livi as does my son. Here is where I have conflicts, too be honest I am not completely sold on the name just because I am afraid that our baby won't like her name when she grows up because it is unusual and old fashioned ( and my daughter complains about her name all the time, saying it is too long, she doesn't like it and why did we name her that?! Which I know can be a common thing, because apparently I did the same thing, wanting to be called Cindy!LOL!). The other issue I have is our first child our daughter we named just because we liked the two names, we had her first name picked out well before we knew we would have a daughter; our son is named after my father and great-grandmother (yes great-grandmother!) so if we name this little one after family will my first daughter feel slighted?! I know, can you tell I am a worrier???  So with all this conflict we have been trying to come up with some other names we can all agree on (one thing is either the first or middle name has to be biblical- something we want and have used with our other two), I like Hannah Kate but my husband isn't sold on it either, he likes Emma, which is okay but again popular. Last night we were sitting at the dinner table discussing names, when we asked the kids to vote only once on one of the names- Emma or Hannah; when my daughter broke down in a complete crying fit because she wants her sister to be named Olivia! UGH!!! I feel horrible, and torn, yet I don't want her to have the final say etc... what is a mom to do. We really would like to name the baby soon, so we can start calling her that instead of baby girl.
On a funny note about names my daughter (yes the same one that is ADAMANT that we name the baby Olivia) suggested we wait and see if the baby has a lot of hair and we name her rapunzel. The kicker is she means wait till she is 2 or 3 years old, until then we will just call her baby girl! LOL!!!!

Funny Story

So my son who is 3 is really concerned about how the baby is going to get out of my tummy. I just respond by telling him that the doctor knows and will take care of it and not to worry. Well we were talking about how they (my kiddos) will be able to come to the hospital etc... when my son asked again how the baby was going to get out. Then he asked if the doctor is going to use a knife (thanks to my niece who asked me that!), when my 5 year old daughter responded "don't be silly the doctor's not a chef!" LOL! OMG!!!!

We are having.....

I had my doctors appointment and ultrasound today. All went extremely well:)  The baby is doing great, measuring 3 days ahead of schedule (which of course has me worried that the baby is going to be LARGE because I am diabetic) and we got some great pictures and video too. We also found out that we are having a beautiful princess:) YAH!!!! We are so excited! My husband was relieved because he didn't know if he could handle another boy- lol! My daughter is thrilled to be having a sister and my son was disappointed because he really really wanted a brother. I am thrilled to know all is well!
I go back to the obgyn in a month. I have my endocrinologist appointment this Thursday and my fetal echo is schedule for March 1st- which I am excited to see our princess again!
So it looks like it is the year of the girl, I have heard more and more announcements for girls. My friend just found out today she is expecting twin girls right about the same time I am due! WOW exciting:) So now we are playing the name game and trying to narrow our list down and of course the decorating will begin soon too.

Majority says and a new recipe!

Today is my doctors appointment and ultrasound, I am of course nervous, hoping and praying all is well with our little one! Once I know all is well I will be THRILLED to see my little one on the screen and of course curious to find out what we are having:)  All the polls that I posted (on my blogs and face.bk) the majority is guessing girl; I am still thinking boy however in the last week or so I have had a dream that it is a girl and have been thinking more girl (but I am sticking with the thought it is a boy). We will be THRILLED no matter what, we just want a healthy baby and momma:)
Changing the subject I have been trying to find some new recipes because it seems we eat the same stuff over and over:(   UGH!!! I know a couple of blogs have made new year's resolutions to try a new recipe a month which I LOVE because it helps me out- LOL! I have tried a couple of those recipes with some success. I did find a recipe that we LOVE and it is super easy:) This recipe was a hit with myself, my hubby and my son (my daughter is BEYOND picky and I knew she wouldn't even try it!). So without further ado:
Chicken Taco Soup
ingredients:
1 pound boneless skinless chicken cooked and shredded (I bought the chicken strips that are already cooked (that they recommend for salads, wraps etc...)and are in the meat case of your local grocery. SO much easier!)
2 cups cooked kidney beans (I used 2 cans of kidney beans)

2 cups prepared salsa

6 cups chicken stock (I used the reduced/ low sodium kind)

1 packet of taco seasoning (I use the reduced sodium kind)

1 can of corn (optional, I added this because I thought it needed something)

shredded cheese (optional)

sour cream (optional)

tortilla chips

I cooked the kidney beans for about 10 minutes on the stove, stirring often. I then put the chicken stock, salsa, kidney beans, corn and taco seasoning in a large pot on medium heat. Then I cut up the chicken strips and added those to the soup. I let the soup cook for a couple of hours because I think it helps the flavors integrate etc... once the soup got heated up I turned the heat down low.
When I served the soup I crushed up tortilla chips in the soup, sprinkled shredded cheese over it and added a little sour cream- YUMMO!!!!!

Let me know if any of you try this recipe and what you think of it:) Hope you and your fam enjoy it as much as my family did!
